Chartered in February of 1955, The Sertoma Club of East Indianapolis is a 116 member club affiliated with Sertoma International.  Each year we have several fundraisers along with weekly Bingo, which bring in money to sponsor the children of the Marion County Children's Guardian Home and our 33 acre Camp Sertoma at the intersection of Brookville Road (US52) and German Church Road on the East side of the great city of Indianapolis.  We meet weekly at the Ramada Inn at Pendleton Pike & I465 on Thursdays at Noon.

SERvice TO MAnkind
SERTOMA. A curious word until three very important words come together in unison: SERvice TO MAnkind. Sertoma’s primary service project is assisting the more than 50 million people with speech, hearing and language disorders. Sertoma also sponsors community projects to promote freedom and democracy, to assist youth and to benefit a variety of other local community needs, as identified by the individual clubs.

Headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri, Sertoma is a 501(c)(4) not-for-profit international organization dedicated to SERvice TO MAnkind”, with 20,000-plus members in more than 650 clubs across Canada, Mexico, Puerto Rico and the United States. Every year Sertoma clubs raise more than $20 million for local community service projects. Through these projects, as well as grants and scholarships, Sertoma clubs return those funds to their respective communities - and they have lots of fun doing it while building life-long friendships

We lost one of our great people last week with the passing of  Don Miller.     At our last meeting, Melissa Hyatt gave a very thoughtful invocation for Don and his family.

Dr. Bob Arnold shared some of his memories of Don going back to when they met in th 50's.  He talked about passing along his IU basketball programs
(the equivalent of a garage load) to Don to collect.  He joked that Don would be irritated if any of those programs were not in tip top form!

We certainly extend our SERTOMA prayers to Dee and their family.
